Stephen was brought up in Northern Ireland and before training to be a minister he worked in Airdrie, where he met his wife Carla. He also serves as Chaplain to Stranraer FC.
Gerald has lived in Stranraer for over 30 years and is well known in the area through his work in the building trade. He also served as the church's previous minister. He is married to Ruth, and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
Who runs the church?
The church is Jesus' idea, not ours. He decides how the church is to be run, how it is to worship and what its priorities are.
Following the pattern we see in the New Testament (eg Acts chapter 15), Stephen and Gerald are accountable to a wider body of men known as a Presbytery.
The Presbytery meets every few months and is made up of ministers and elders of all the different RP churches from Stranraer to Stornoway. Presbytery is responsible for overseeing existing congregations and planting new ones.
